Core Objective

Players control a dark character tasked with collecting energy orbs spread across each stage. The challenge comes from avoiding detection by moving guards who patrol set paths. There is no combat system; the focus is entirely on evasion and timing. Each orb collected adds to a progress meter, and clearing all orbs unlocks the next area.

Movement and Tools

The character moves through environments using standard keyboard controls. A special tool can be thrown to retrieve distant orbs or temporarily distract nearby guards. This tool has limited uses per stage, encouraging players to plan when to use it. Staying within dark areas keeps the character hidden, while moving through lit zones increases the risk of being spotted.

Enemy Behavior and Level Design

Guards follow predictable patrol routes that become more complex as the game progresses. Early stages introduce simple back-and-forth patterns, while later levels include multiple guards with overlapping paths and varying speeds. Obstacles such as crates and walls provide cover, but some are placed in ways that force players to time their movements carefully. Each stage feels distinct due to changes in layout and guard density.

Progression and Difficulty Curve

The game gradually increases difficulty by adding more guards, tighter spaces, and fewer safe zones. Players must learn each stage's layout and guard schedules to advance. There is no penalty for restarting a stage, which encourages experimentation. The difficulty curve feels fair, with each new challenge building on skills learned in previous stages.

Browser Accessibility

Shadow Seeker runs entirely in a desktop browser without any downloads or installations. A full-screen mode is available for a more immersive view. The game saves progress automatically, allowing players to return later without losing their place. Performance remains smooth even on older machines, making it accessible to a wide audience.
